ABOUT THE LERNERS

Nissim & Hadassah Lerner’s Aliyah journey has been a long one that began in 1980 when the Lord spoke to Nissim and told him to take his family to live in Israel. While they prepared, they made several trips to the Former Soviet Union (FSU) to encourage Jewish people to make Aliyah.

In 1989, while navigating the rough waters of immigration, red tape and culture shock, the Lerner family made their home in Tiberias by the Sea of Galilee. Excited to finally be in the Land, they began language study and the process of getting acclimated to a different culture.

As the Russians came flooding into the country, the Lerners opened a distribution and cultural center to help provide for the needs of those who were arriving. It was, as they say, ‘the best of times, the worst of times’. With the joy of being able to live in Israel, came the trauma of all the changes in what was familiar and comfortable. Letting go of the way things were always done and adapting to new standards of life, their determination to make a new life in a new land was tested beyond strength at times.

Since the beginning, they have been helping others through the turbulent seas of immigration. Having gone through difficulties themselves, they are better prepared to assist others in their absorption in the Land. In 2012, the Lerners began to establish a safe harbor for New Immigrants (Olim) by renting a 4 bedroom house and opening their doors to those who have yet to complete their navigation of the system. His Lighthouse Inc, as the ministry is called, has already had several Olim come through their doors from the United States, Russia and China — all in need of a quiet, resting place.

“… When I first came to Israel from China I was like a newborn baby. I didn’t know anything about Israel. The Lerners picked me up from the airport, took me into their home and family. They treated me like a daughter and helped me understand my heritage. I thank them because they made me feel welcome in Israel…”

F.E. ~ USA
“My life was in crisis when I came to ‘His Lighthouse’. I felt like I was on the edge of death. His Lighthouse was a refuge for me to feel safe and a home for me to recover. I leave with restored hope, peace and strength.”

A.Z. ~ USA
“Thank you! 5 years ago I made Aliyah and because of you, I was successful! I don’t think it would have gone so smoothly without your help. You not only helped pave the way, you shared your wonderful family with me! God bless you for all your support!!”

THE VISION

“However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but it will be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their ancestors. “But now I will send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks.”

Jeremiah 16:14-16 speaks of a day in the future when there will be so great a return of the Jewish people to Israel it will eclipse the Exodus from Egypt. There are those who are laboring now as ‘fishermen’ to help bring this about. But sadly, the scripture also speaks of ‘hunters’, which brings to mind a time of terrible fleeing to the Land of Israel for safety. A Tsunami of Jewish people will be flooding the Land.

The Lerners are burdened to warn of the danger coming and to shine the Light to a safe harbor. Their ministry, His Lighthouse is in the process of establishing a large complex to receive part of the masses that will be arriving on the shores. Coming under difficult circumstances, there will be a need for help to navigate the system while healing from trauma. A community is planned that will be a center for healing and hope. Peaceful gardens, therapy centers, recreational facilities, housing, dining hall and more — all with the thought of a peaceful, welcoming, safe harbor. This complex will assist the Olim in acclimating to their new life in Israel.
