Our First Love 7-22-20
I was praying last week and the Lord spoke to me. He said I needed to stop the busyness and go into prayer this week. After this week, I would be a different person. I have been praying, worshipping Him since Sunday. Last night I was studying Revelation chapter2 verses 1-7 on audio by David Pawson (www.davidpawson.org) This study was about the Church at Ephesus. Yeshua (the holder of the seven stars in His hands) was sending a letter to the angel of the Church of Ephesus.
Yeshua praises the Church for three good things they are doing:
- Praise for their labor to the Church and the Lord.
- Praises their endurance. They have been under social pressure but they are enduring all obstacles.
- Praise for being an enlightened Church. A Church who hates evil. A Church who hates false doctrines, false prophet, false movements and sects that encourage wrong behavior.
Then Yeshua says, ‘But… you have lost your first love’. In verse 5 He tells them how to correct this fault or else He will remove their lampstand. The lampstand isn’t the light. It is the holder of the Light. Just as we are the holders of the Light.
The three things He says:
- Remember what you were like when you first loved Him.
- Repent from what you have become. Turn your life around.
- Repeat again what you did when your first loved Him.
This teaching has brought me up short of where I am- never be so busy that I forget what it was like when I first loved Yeshua. I was full of love for Him. He freed me from my bondage. I would spend hours each day in prayer, worshipping Him, and studying the Word of God.
I call on all of you who read this to return to your first love of Him!
